Summary
Gradebook Weighted Calc is a free companion Chrome extension for Gradebook Tools. It calculates weighted grade averages entirely on your device. We do not collect, sell, or transmit personal information.
This page also covers how the Gradebook Tools website handles data: calculations run in your browser, and local saves require an explicit Save action and do not sync between devices. See also the privacy and storage explanation on Methods.
Data we do not collect
- No account, login, or identity information
- No analytics, advertising IDs, or tracking pixels from the extension
- No browsing history or page content uploaded to our servers
- No cloud sync of grades or weights
What the extension does locally
- You may type grade/weight pairs into the popup. Those values stay in the popup session on your device.
- If you click Parse selection, the extension may read the text you currently have selected on the active tab, solely to extract numbers for the local calculation. That text is not sent to any server and is not stored after the popup closes.
- Calculation results are shown only in the popup UI.
Network activity
The only intentional network navigation from the extension is when you choose Open Gradebook Tools, which opens https://gradebooktools.com/ in a new tab. The extension itself does not upload grades, selections, or other data.
Permissions
activeTab/scripting— used only when you click Parse selection, to read the current selection on the active page for local parsing.- No host permissions beyond that interaction model.
Third parties
The extension does not embed third-party SDKs. Visiting gradebooktools.com is subject to that site’s own privacy practices described here and on Methods.
Children’s privacy
The extension is a general productivity tool. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
