Student average = Σ (category% × weight) ÷ Σ weights Class average = mean of student averages
Enter category results as percentages (for 45/50 homework, enter 90). Weights should total ~100%; otherwise averages use normalized weights and a warning appears.
Use teacher grader when you only need one test’s points→percent for the whole class. Use the gradebook calculator for a single student’s detailed assignment list.
THE REST OF YOUR TOOLKIT
There’s a calculator for that.
One less thing to work out.
gradebook calculatorWeighted course grades from assignments and syllabus categories.
gpa calculatorUnweighted or credit-weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.
How is this different from Teacher Grader and the home gradebook?
Teacher Grader scores one shared test for many students. The home page is a single-student weighted gradebook. Class Gradebook is a multi-student roster with several weighted categories—your differentiator for whole-class category grading.
Do student scores leave my device?
No. Calculations and optional CSV export run locally in the browser. There is no upload server for roster data.
How are category weights applied?
Each student’s average = Σ (category % × category weight / Σ weights). Keep weights near 100%. If they drift, the tool normalizes and warns you.
Can I export a CSV?
Yes. Export downloads Name, each category, Average, and Letter. Names that look like spreadsheet formulas are escaped.
Is this a free online gradebook for teachers?
It is a lightweight local class gradebook for planning and reporting averages—not a full LMS. For one test only, use Teacher Grader; for one student’s syllabus categories, use the home calculator.
How many students and categories can I add?
Up to 100 students and 8 weighted categories in this version. Keep exports under typical spreadsheet limits.
