Calculator Grader

Enter the total, count the missed points, and keep moving.

A calculator grader converts wrong answers into a percentage: subtract the number wrong from the total, divide by the total, and multiply by 100. This assumes equal-value questions. For unequal questions or partial credit, enter points lost instead.

Example: 20 questions with 3 wrong gives 17 ÷ 20 × 100 = 85%, a B on the standard A–F scale.

WHO IT HELPS & HOW TO USE IT

How to use calculator grader

For teachers counting missed answers or lost points while marking a stack of tests.

  1. Set the question count for equal-value questions, or the total possible points for differently valued questions.
  2. Count wrong answers or points lost. Select half- or quarter-point steps for partial credit and choose the letter-grade scale.
  3. Read the percentage and letter. Choose Next test to clear the score and bonus while keeping the same total and scale.

Before you rely on the result: Counting questions assumes equal marks. Use points lost for unequal marks. This quick tool does not keep a named roster; use Teacher Grader for class results.

Calculator for test grades: count wrong, get the percentage

Test percentage = (total points − points lost + bonus) ÷ total points × 100

A calculator for test grades subtracts wrong answers from the question count before dividing by the total. Set the total once, then count misses as you mark each paper. For 20 equal-value questions with 3 wrong, 17 ÷ 20 × 100 gives 85%. If questions carry different marks, enter total points and points lost instead of counting questions.

Use W to count a miss, Z to undo, and R for the next test when you are not typing in a field. Next test clears the student’s answer and bonus while keeping the test total and grading scale.

Choose half-point or quarter-point steps for partial credit. For a complete static grading chart, use Easy Grader. For names, class averages, and CSV exports, use Teacher Grader.

Grader online: grade a stack of papers with the same question count

Set the test total and grade scale once. Count missed points for the first paper, then choose Next test for the next student. The total and scale stay in place; the student’s answer and separate bonus reset.

Use W to count a miss, Z to undo, and R to reset when you are outside an input. For a named roster, class average, and CSV import or export, open the class tool.

GOOD QUESTIONS. STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Calculator Grader: frequently asked questions

How do wrong answers become a percentage?

Subtract wrong answers from the total question count, divide by the total, then multiply by 100. This assumes every question has the same value. For differently weighted questions, count points lost instead.

Can I count half a point or partial credit?

Yes. Choose ½ or ¼ point steps, or type decimal points lost directly. Use the test’s total possible points when marking partial credit.

How do I grade the next student on the same test?

Choose Next test or press R outside an input. The answer and extra credit reset; the total, step size, and scale remain ready for the next paper.

Can I undo a miss without starting again?

Choose Undo or press Z outside an input. It restores the previous answer and bonus. Changing the total or entry mode clears the undo history.
